Life's a Beach

I love the beach. Absolutely adore it. No matter where said beach is, I like it. And I also love summer. And tropical places; all of which inspired this design.

For my ring finger, I sponged on a gradient using Sun Kissed from Sally Hansen, Pool Party from China Glaze and Watermelon from Essie. The other nails are painted with Pool Party. The palm trees are done with a black striper.

By The Sea...

Hey guys! Back again. Two days in a row posting! Woo! Here's my current manicure.

I've been wanting to do nautical nails for a while, and I just haven't gotten around to it until now. The red is Gypsy Queen from Misa along with one coat of Wocka Wocka from OPI. The blue is Yoga-Ta Get This Blue from OPI and the white is a white striper. It was actually a super simple mani, but it looks really cute! Enjoy!

Vintage Vibes

Hey guys! So, it's been 3 weeks since my last nail art post, and I feel so bad about that. I was just getting into final projects though and then exams, but with that I have good news. I have officially finished high school and written my last ever high school exams. Also, on June 15th I saw Marianas Trench in Lewiston. It was a great concert, and I was VIP so I got to meet them!! For those of you who don't know, Marianas Trench is a Canadian pop/punk/rock band. The band Ghost Town opened for them (who I am now a huge fan of). I didn't do nails for the concert, but I did draw the band and got the drawings autographed. I'm still tweaking the drawings though, so I'll post them soon.

Also, last week I had my prom, but I kept my nails simple with a few coats of Essence nail polish. Prom was good, and the after party was...erm...interesting. But anyways, the point is, I'm back for good to blog!

Here are my current nails.

I wanted to go with a vintage/retro comic book style for my nails. The colours I used are Club Prive from L'Oréal and black and white stripers. I'm super happy with how this turned out.

Also, I wanted to point out my new photography section on the blog. And are there any design or tutorial requests for summer?

No Music, No Life

Hey guys! Here's my latest manicure.

This whole manicure is done with Sharpies. The only nail polish used was top coat. My pinkie is music notes, my ring finger is a pair of headphones turning into a heart, my middle finger is a Billy Talent song and my pointer finger is Green Day lyrics. Finally, my thumb says exactly how I feel about music: no music, no life. I seriously think I'd die without music. And below is a picture of my finished binder which my nails from last Mani Monday were inspired by. I've included a picture of my nails if you forgot.

P.S. I'm working on some sketches right now, and I hope to post them this week for you guys to see. Plus, I'll be posting my manicure for a concert I'm going to this weekend. And is anyone else excited for the MMVAs (Much Music Video Awards)? I am!! (Billy Talent will be there!!!!!)

Lost Generation

Hey people of the blogisphere! I'm back, better and bloggin'! So here's my Mani Monday.

The base colour is Club Prive from L'Oréal. Then I inked on the design. It's inspired by a design I've been working on, on my binder. The binder isn't quite finished yet, but when I'm done, I'll post a picture. Anyways, the jellyfish are based off the t-shirt I got from the Billy Talent concert (it's to represent their Dead Silence album). Then the middle nail is lyrics from Billy Talent, as is the "lost generation" on the pointer finger. The skyline is the Manhattan skyline, and on the thumb are Beatles lyrics.

Also, I have another drawing done.

It's based on a photo I took of one of the tigers at the Toronto Zoo last year. I've been working on this for 7 months (not straight through :p) and I'm happy to finally finish it.

Sorry for the lack of posts...

Hey guys. I justed wanted to check in with you guys and let you know why there has been a lack of posts in the past two weeks. May 15th, my new rabbit, Lucy, passed away. She was only 4 months old, and after discussion with the vet, we concluded that she must have been born with a parasite or some type of disease, especially since we took good care of her. Obviously, this was not easy to deal with.

Then, last week, I ended up sick with severe headaches and what I'm quite sure was the flu. I was off school for the whole week. And starting off this week, it has been tests and final projects. Also, yesterday was the one year anniversary of my guinea pig's death.

Just wanted to let you know so you don't think I'm abandoning the blog. I hope to have a design up for tomorrow.

Simplicity Is Key

I had a request from one of my long time followers, Izzie, to make some nail tutorials for nails fit for a wedding. I think the big thing when making nails for attending a wedding (or any party for that matter), is simplicity is key. When you're going out to an event, your nails become your accessory so I think going for something that is simple, but pretty, or cleanly executed is the best. So here you go Izzie, two tutorials for nails that are ready for a wedding.

Tutorial One

1. Start with a gradient french, or classic french manicure. I used a gradient french, since I am sort of over classic french manicures and find them boring. I used White On from Sally Hansen and French Rose from Rimmel, both of which I sponged on.

2. Taking your choice of colour of nail polish or acrylic paint, make a heart about midway through the nail, then drag the tip of the heart down to the tip of the nail.

3. Repeat step 2. until you have the desired amount of hearts you'd like.

Tutorial Two

1.Start with a gradient french, or classic french manicure.

2. Using a dotting tool, make five dots in the corner of your nail. Using a paintbrush, tooth pick or pen, drag out the dots to a point to create petals. I used black acrylic for this.

3. Finally, using a different colour, make a dot for the center of the flower. Also, make a dot between two petals and drag it to a point to create a leaf. Repeat for as many leafs as you would like. I used silver acrylic for this.

If you ask me, I like the hearts the best, but I love the flower too!

Do Not Cross

So it was supposed to be CSI week in my bio class (we basically apply our knowledge of genetics to solve a fake murder), but someone...*cough*... my teacher :p... messed up on the dates. Anyways, in honour of the supposed to be happening CSI week I painted my nails. Here's my Manicure Monday mani.

The base on my ring finger is Black Satin from Rimmel. The other nails have a base of White On from Sally Hansen. For the finger prints, I used Skyfall from OPI and literally put it on my fingers and pressed down on my nails. For the blood splatters, I diltued Skyfall with polish remover and splattered it on to my nails. Make sure if you splatter paint your nails you protect everything around you. I was painting this in shorts and my whole leg was covered in red splatters. :p Finally, for the police tape I use yellow acrylic and applied matte top coat on the black.
