I'm Weird

On Friday I went to Warped Tour 2014. For those of you who don't know, Warped Tour is a huge music festival that is now international. There are over 100 bands and artists on the tour, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. It was my first time going to Warped Tour and it was an amazing experience. Here are my nails for the occasion.

My pinkie is a base of Black Taxi from Nails Inc. Then I sponged on Frostbite from China Glaze, Plum Seduction from Revlon, Back In My Gloria Days from Nicole By OPI and Let's Get Lost from Essence to create a galaxy. Finally, I added some stars with white acrylic. My ring finger is the Journeys logo, with a base of Black Taxi painted in white acrylic. My middle finger is part of the illustration for the Ghost Town song Monster. The base is High Line Green from NYC, and the rest is acrylic. On my pointer finger, I started with a base of Black Taxi, then sponged on French Quarter for Your Thoughts and Ski Slop Sweetie, both from OPI. I added stars and "I'm Weird" which is a new song from Ghost Town. Finally, my thumb is the Vans logo. The base is Black Taxi and the lettering is acrylic.

Conor from Ice Nine Kills.

And Bertrand from Chunk! No Captain Chunk!

Warped Tour was definitely fun! And it was great to see some awesome bands!

Hope you guys enjoy!

*UPDATE*

This is a tour vlog from Ghost Town. If you watch from about 1:05, you'll see me showing off my nails at the Toronto Warped Tour show!

Also, Warped Tour posted my nails on their Instagram!

Out of This World

I LOVE galaxy nails. Ever since I first tried them, I have. I don't really paint galaxy nails that often though, so I thought it was about time for some more. As well as an updated galaxy tutorial.

1. Start with a black base. I used Black Satin from Rimmel.

2. Choose two colours at this point that work well together. For example, green and blue or blue and purple. In my case, I chose blue and purple, which are generally seen it actually galaxies. Starting with the first colour (blue, Frostbite by China Glaze), sponge onto the nail. Make the colour more concentrated in certain areas.

3. Using your second colour (purple, Back in My Gloria Days by Nicole (OPI) and Tomorrow Never Dies by OPI, sponge onto the nail. Overlap with the other colour in certain spots.

4. [Optional] Taking a lighter shade of your first colour (Let's Get Lost by Essence), sponge onto spots of the galaxy that you want to be lighter. At this point, take a white polish or white acrylic, and lighten certain spots of the galaxy.

5. Now that you have the white on the nail, take this time to add any more of the colours you chose, overlapping some of the white.

6. Add stars using white. And add lots of them. Focus on clustering the stars. Wherever the galaxy is the lightest, that's where you should put more stars. Finally, top coat.

And here are some of my old tips, and some new ones.

Tips:

i) Rip the makeup sponge; don't cut it, for a more natural, organic and realistic look when sponging.

ii) Reference photos of galaxies to produce a more realistic design. I can't stress this enough. Looking at photos will really help you to get a more realistic look.

iii) Don't be perfect. Galaxies are irregular in shape since they naturally occur.

iv) Each nail doesn't need to be the same, since once again, galaxies are natural and don't all look the same. Make each galaxy unique!! Remember, there are spiral, elliptical and irregular shaped galaxies (plus more).

v) Wherever you make the galaxy the brightest should be where you put the most stars.

vi) Make stars of various sizes for a more realistic look.

vii) By using mainly metallic or glittery polishes, you'll achieve more of a space feel with your design.

Alright guys, I hope you enjoy and good luck!

But wait! There's more! A ton of underwater photos to capture the colours of the galaxy!

Alright, spamming of underwater photos done. I'll be posting again soon. Probably tomorrow... :D

Hey! It's 2014!!

So you guys are probably sitting there right now, being like, "Wow Christina, it's been a week of 2014 and nothing." I know, I know. Last year was HORRIBLE for blogging, and I really regret that. It was a hectic and stressful year, with graduation, and of course trying to (and still trying to) figure out what I am doing with my life. I mean university is a big decision, but that's beside the point. The point is nail art. Nail art is what's important on this blog. I've been taking this past week to prepare some nail art so I can post more often. Also, I've been working on coming up with more ideas. I think I'm going to be bringing back Mani Monday, because that seemed to keep me on track. I also want to start up Mini Masterpieces, as well as a monthly Mickey Mouse or Disney manicure. Plus, I'm going to be trying out Chalkboard Nails Lacquer Legion challenge. So with that, here's my first mani, and post of 2014. Get ready guys, 2014 will be amazing.

It was just as quick half-moon mani. The base is White Away (gel) from Sally Hansen and the dark colour (it's a really dark green), is Khloé Had a Little Lam-Lam from Nicole By OPI.

I hope you guys enjoy and I'll be back tomorrow with another manicure!
