Footsteps on the Beach

Looks like the perfect day for a walk along the beach... And maybe even for a swim...

For this design, I started with a base of Cocktails & Coconuts from Essie, then sponged on That's What I Mint from Essence to create a gradient. Using the water spotting method, I used Sure Thing from Revlon to create the water effect. On my ring finger, I added little footprints using brown acrylic. Finally, I topped the whole design with Matte About You topcoat from Essie.

Hope you guys enjoy!

What 'Chu Lookin' At?

Hey guys! Here's a quick little mani I did the other day!

I started with a base of Blue Away from Sally Hansen. Then using white acrylic, I painted the French bulldog (which is based on a compact mirror I got from Forever 21). I outlined the bulldog in black acrylic, then added the sun glasses using pink acrylic. Et voila, I give you a sort of angry looking French bulldog.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Born To Die

Bear with me on this post. I feel like it will be a little long, but that's because there is just so much too it!!

Alright, so Lana Del Rey is probably the only pop singer I listen to. There is something absolutely stunning about her music. Her voice is so haunting and melancholic, I just can't stop listening to it. And I love her whole vintage style. So this post is my homage to Ms. Del Rey.

I started off by painting my nails to look like LDR's signature claws. I already have my claw nails as it is, so all I needed was a bit of nude and red polish. I created this look using French Rose from Rimmel and Revlon Red from, well, Revlon. I don't usually like simple manicures like this on myself, as I find them to plain, but I actually adored this. But, of course, I got bored of it quickly, so...

I painted Lana. I referenced the album cover for Born To Die, and painted LDR using black, white, grey and red acrylic. Pretty happy with how this turned out.

And, because I'm an artistic person who loves to challenge themselves creatively, I turned myself into Lana Del Rey using makeup. And a seriously giant flower crown. See those pictures below.

Well I hope you guys found it interesting seeing my Lana nails, and me as Lana as well. Do any of you like Lana Del Rey? What's your favourite song? Let me know in the comments!

Hope you guys enjoy!

"Eye" See All

Or at least my nails see all. I mean there are four eyes there. That's got to be pretty good vision. This mani was inspired, once again by the genius Spifster

The base for all nails was Surfing Paradise from Island Girl Hawaii. On my left pinkie and right middle finger, I painted the stars using a black striper from It's So Easy. My ring fingers and index fingers were a mix of Mellow Yellow from Sally Hansen, Blue Away from Sally Hansen, Let's Get Lost from Essence and Under The Boardwalk from China Glaze. I then painted on the drips using my black striper. Finally, on my left middle finger and right pinkie, I painted the eyes with white acrylic, then painted the irises with blue acrylic and the pupils with black acrylic. I finished it off by lining the eyes with a black striper.

Hope you guys enjoy!

I Hate Everything

Don't be alarmed by the title; I don't hate everything. But Wednesday Addams certainly does, which brings me to the theme for my current nails.

I started with a base of Surfing Paradise from Island Girl Hawaii. I then painted Wednesday using black and white acrylic. On my middle finger I painted a ribbon banner using white acrylic, then outlined it and wrote "I hate everything" using black acrylic. Finally, I painted a skull and roses on my pointer finger using black and white acrylic.

Hope you guys enjoy! (Or maybe don't enjoy, cause I'm channeling Wednesday Addams? ;p)

Hunks Only

Today's design is a little different. This one is based off of the YouTuber known as Jacksfilms. Jack is one of my favourite YouTubers and he's constantly producing hilarious content, so definitely check him out

The base for all nails was Sure Thing from Revlon. On my pinkie finger, I painted the pixel sunglasses and "troll'd" and "rekt" using black acrylic. My ringer finger is Jack doing his "creeper" face, which was painted with black and white acrylic. I painted the Jacksfilms' logo on my middle finger using black acrylic. Finally, I painted "cool cool" on my pointer finger, also with black acrylic, which is one of Jack's catchphrases.

Jack saw the nails, and I think it's safe to say he thought they were cool.

Up top, amirite?!

Well, cool cool. Hope you guys enjoy!

Flamingos & Palm Trees

Well, it's finally starting to get warm here in Southern Ontario, so it's about time to start breaking out all the summery designs. These ones happen to be inspired by Nina Park, AKA, Nina Nailed It.

For the palm tree nails, I created a gradient using Electrified and Hey Girl! from Quo by Orly. Then, using black acrylic, I painted the palm trees. For the flamingo nails, I mixed together Blue Away from Sally Hansen and That's What I Mint from Essence for the base coat. I then painted the flamingos using pink, gold and black acrylic. I topped everything off with a matte top coat and voila! Simple and cute summery nails.

Hope you guys enjoy!

May The Fourth Be With You

*heavy breathing* "I am your father." Okay, not really. But Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father, which leads me to this quick design. For May The Fourth, I painted Darth Vader.

I started with a base of Black Taxi from Nails Inc. I then painted on all the details using black and white acrylic, as well as various shades of grey.

Hope you guys enjoy, and may the force be with you!

Budapest

I went to see George Ezra not too long ago, and I (of course) painted nail for that concert as well!

My pinkie was a base of Sure Thing from Revlon, which I then painted a map of Budapest (one of his songs) on using red, blue and black acryic. On my ring finger, I painted "George Ezra" in white acrylic on a base of Black Taxi from Nails Inc. I used a base of Sure Thing on my middle finger, then painted Paddington Bear (who inspired the album name) using red, black, white, brown and blue acrylic. Using white acrylic on a base of Black Taxi, I painted "#Petan" (a hashtag George made up). Finally, my thumb was a base of Sure Thing. I then painted on a map of Barcelona (another George Ezra song) using red, blue and black acrylic.

George was absolutely amazing to see, and while I didn't get a chance to meet him, I did get to chat with his sister and show her my nails, which she loved!

Hope you guys enjoy!

Don't Be a Beach, Go to One!

Hey guys! Here's a quick little design I did to try out a new technique.

The base for all my nails was Cocktails & Coconuts from Essie. I used white acrylic to paint the lettering on my ring finger. For my other nails, I sponged on a gradient of Cocktails & Coconuts, Blue Away from Sally Hansen, That's What I Mint from Essence and Shower Together from China Glaze. I then used a water marbling technique with Sure Thing from Revlon to create the waves/water reflections.

I absolutely love how this turned out and I will definitely be trying it again!

Hope you guys enjoy!

Mindsweep

I went to see the band Enter Shikari, and, as always, I painted my nails after their album artwork.

All nails were a base of Black Leather from China Glaze. For my pinkies, pointer finger and thumb, I used blue, purple, pink and red acrylic to paint synapses, as well as a bit of Plum Seduction from Revlon for a brighter magenta in certain spots. On my ring finger, I sponged on some of Yoga-Ta Get This Blue from OPI, then painted the Enter Shikari logo and synapses with white and blue acrylic. Finally, I painted "Enter Shikari" on my middle finger using white acrylic.

I got a chance to meet Rou and Rory from the band, and they thought my nails were awesome!

They also posted them on Instagram!

Stay Gold, Ponyboy

From the first moment I ever read The Outsiders, I knew I was in love with it. This book also introduced me to my favourite poem, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost. That was the inspiration for this design, as well as the work of Spifster Sutton.

My pinkies and thumbs were Dreamer from Revlon. On my ring fingers and index fingers, I started with a base of Plum Seduction from Revlon, Blazed from Wet 'N' Wild, Mellow Yellow from Sally Hansen and Dreamer. On my ring fingers, I painted drips on using a black striper, then splattered on black acrylic with a toothbrush. Finally, I painted "stay gold" using white acrylic on my left ring finger and "golden" in black acrylic on top of a white acrylic banner on my right ring finger. To finish my index fingers, I used a black striper to paint the jagged lines, then splattered more black acrylic on top. My middle fingers were a custom grey I created using Sure Thing from Revlon and Black Leather from China Glaze. I then used black acrylic to paint the rose and the leaves, and added highlights using white acrylic.

Have any of you read The Outsiders? What did you think?

Hope you guys enjoy! And remember, stay gold.

Read Or Die

Over the years, I've come to realize, I'm a lot less "ride or die" and a lot more "read or die". I just really like books.

On my left hand pinkie and right hand ring finger, I painted the word "no" using a black and white striper. Next, on my left ring finger and right middle finger, I started with a base of French Quarter For Your Thoughts from OPI, then painted Blue Away from Sally Hansen, Baker Street from Nails Inc., Blazed from Wet 'N' Wild, Lightening from Sally Hansen, Surfing Paradise from Island Girl Hawaii, Khaki from Joe, and Suzi Loves Cowboys from OPI. Then I added on some black and white using stripers, and painted on "ride or die" using a black striper. Finally, I painted "read" using a white striper. My left middle finger and right pointer finger were a base of Sure Thing from Revlon, followed by 3 layers of hairspray water marbling using Black Leather from China Glaze, Finally, my left pointer finger and right pinkie were Baker Street.

Do you guys like to read too? What's your favourite book?

Hope you guys enjoy!

Current Mood: No

This design came together because I was in one of those "no" moods. So that made me think of Grumpy Cat, which then inspired this.

My pinkie finger is Blue Away from Sally Hansen. On my ring finger, I started with a base of French Quarter For Your Thoughts from OPI, then painted Grumpy Cat using black, brown and white acrylic. My middle finger was a base of Marshmallow from Essie. I then added the flowers in using Blue Away, and white and black acrylic. I then painted the leaves using French Quarter For Your Thoughts and black acrylic. Finally, I finished off with putting fine silver glitter on my pointer finger.

And a little close up on that "no" action.

Hope you guys enjoy!

I'm Really A Mermaid

Hey guys! Here's a quick mermaid scale mani I did a couple weeks ago!

The base for all of my nails was Deviantly Daring. On my middle finger, thumb and pinkie, I sponged on some of Frostbite from China Glaze along one side of the nails, On my pointer finger and ring finger, I sponged on Slate Park from Sally Hansen along one side. I then put pieces of glitter from Luxe and Lush from China Glaze onto my nails, and then drew on the scales using black acrylic.
